The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program (CSD)is professionally linked to the health-related training
programs in the Allied Health Division, Nursing and Allied Health Program, College of Science, Engineering
and Technology. However, the program continues its traditional academic affiliation with the Department
of English and Foreign Languages.
Students completing the Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) curriculum at Norfolk
State University earn a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English, but are clinically prepared for graduate
study in speech-language pathology. Those entering this program should note that employmnet as a
speech-language pathologist is not possible without an advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in
speech-language pathology, as well as state licensure and certification (CCC-SLP) by the
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
