The undergraduate Computer Science degree program is accredited by
the Computer Accreditation Commission (CAC) of (ABET). This program prepares students for
employment in computer professions or the pursuit of an advanced degree
for research. Computer science students can select from three different
emphasis areas.
A significant number of computer science students have:
- Been awarded internships and scholarships
- Worked with department faculty on research projects
- Attended conferences and career days on and off campus
- Joined the Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Network Security Interest Group
- Pursued graduate study in computer science and related areas
- Pursued challenging and rewarding careers in computer science professions
- Take advantage of internships and co-operative education activities
Members of the departmental faculty specialize in areas such as:
- Communication Networks and Applications
- Distributed Computing
- Information Assurance
- XML Protocols and Web Applications
- Human-Computer Interaction and Virtual Reality
- Visualization, Modeling and Simulations
- Evolutionary Computing
Students have access to state of the art resources. They include:
- Two general-purpose laboratories and one research laboratory
equipped with over 150 UNIX and Windows workstations and servers with full Internet access.
- Two Research Laboratories equipped with Robotics, Visualization, Networking, and Virtual Reality equipment
- Access to tutorial services, IEEE, ACM and other digital libraries,
highly interactive e-learning facilities (Blackboard), and various
web-based courseware
