The INSITE (Increasing Success in Information Technology Education) Committee invites Computer Science department chairs, professors, advisors, and others interested in computing to attend this conference: Broadening Participation in Computing Disciplines. The conference is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and will provide a forum for discussions on fostering the retention of women and underrepresented minorities in computer science and information technology fields. Sessions will cover Multilevel Retention Approaches, Realistic Career Previews and Mentoring, Fostering Diversity and Creating an Inclusive Classroom Climate, Pair Programming and Collaborative Learning, Creating and Managing Change, and the NSF BPC Program and other sources of funding. The goal is to provide participants with concrete and proven "best practices" that could be implemented at their institutions. The conference will also feature a celebration of women in computing that includes a student poster session.
