The
Department of Engineering offers its students a variety of options for obtaining
both the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electronics Engineering, a B.S. degree program in
Optical Engineering and an M.S. degree in Optical Engineering. The B.S. and M.S. degree programs in
Electronics Engineering will offer students several tracks for their specialties. These
will include microelectronics and computer engineering. The B.S. degree program in optical
engineering will allow students to conduct research at major research facilities, both
nationally and internationally. Areas of research include quantum optics, nano-technology,
and opto-electronics.
In order to provide the best possible engineering education, the department embraces the standards established by the
Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET). Features of the degree programs in engineering include:
- Undergraduate research for academic credit at government and industrial laboratories
- State-of-the-art instructional and research laboratories
- Small classes and dedicated faculty
- International research experience in the optical engineering program
- An emphasis on professional and ethical responsibility
- An approach to engineering solutions in a global and societal context
Specialty Areas for Electronics Engineering:
- Micro-Electronics
- VLSI (very large scale integrated) Systems
- Digital Electronics Systems
Specialty areas for Optical Engineering:
- Optical Materials
- Quantum Optics
- Nano-Technology
