Graduates of the Physics Department may enter occupations in industry, government, and education. Many graduates continue their education in graduate or professional schools.

A significant number of students have:

• Been awarded scholarships through the Center for Material Research (CMR) and the Bringing Education and Science Together (BEST) Laboratory
• Been awarded four year scholarships through the Dozoretz National Institute in Mathematics and Applied Sciences (DNIMAS)
• Gained research experiences with principal investigators within the department
• Participated in research projects through Summer programs offered at national laboratories and major universities
• Have received fellowships and teaching assistantships to attend major universities nationwide

Physics students participate in the activities of:

• The Society of Physics Students (SPS)
• The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)

Physics faculty perform cutting edge research in the areas of:

• Materials science
• Nuclear physics
• Physics education
